Deciduous perennial. Native found in California and the dry mountains of the southwest. AKA Epilobium canum. Fuzzy green-gray foliage creates tight mounds or mats. Large, tubular orange flowers appear in summer and fall. Attracts hummingbirds. Deer resistant. Well-drained soil. This variety difffers from most Zauschneria in that it performs better with moderate to regular water and some afternoon shade even when established. Hardy to 10°F or less.
