It is noted for its elliptic, toothed, glossy, dark green leaves, mottled bark and resistance to Dutch elm disease. fluted trunk, exfoliating bark (shades of grays, gray greens and orange-browns), narrow leaves. Not showy yellow fall color. Low to moderate water needs once established.
