Deciduous perennial. Clump-forming border plant with long grassy-looking, deep green, erect or arching leaves. Three-petaled rich purple flowers last for only a day, but buds come in large clusters and plants are rarely out of bloom in the summer. May self-sow and become invasive. Attracts butterflies. Regular to ample water needs in well-drained soil once established. Hardy to 0°F and below.
