Needled evergreen. Technically a conifer but does not produce cones, instead producing red, ornamentally-attractive, berry like fruits. Compact habit. Native to Korea, China, Russia and Japan. Features linear, spiny tipped fark green needles sometimes tinged with yellow underneath. Foliage may turn reddish brown or yellow in winter. Scaly, reddish brown bark. Moderate to regular water needs once established.
