Evergreen shrub or small tree. Naturally shrubby but can be trained into a tree with short slender trunk or multiple trunks. Narrow crown, upright branches. Very slow growing. Glossy, dark green leaves. Bears clusters of sweet-scented violet blue flowers from mid-winter to early spring. Thrives in heat and alkaline soil. Low water needs once established, but requires good drainage.
