Evergreen perennial. Rosettes of recurving, spiny-margined, light green leaves are silver-gray beneath. In spring, but usually not every year, turquoise blue-green flowers appear with vivid orange stamens held on 3-4 foot stalks. Low water needs in well-drained soil once established. Hardy to 15-20°F.
