Evergreen shrub. This hybrid between japonica and formosa has a more upright habit. Slow growing. Rounded form with layered branching pattern. Oval dark green leaves arranged in whorls. New leaves are bright red, but fade to pink before turning green. Drooping clusters of small white urn-shaped flowers in late winter and spring are more abundant than the japonica species. Regular water needs once established.
