Semi-evergreen frost-sensitive perennial. Unique specimen plant is reminiscent of prehistoric gardens. Giant (4-6′ across) leaves are covered in stiff hairs. Deep veins through the dark leaves give nice contrast. Leaves grow off a thick trunk-like mound. Spires of cone-shaped inflorescences bloom in early summer. Deer resistant. Ample water needs; suited for wet, boggy areas. Do not let dry out. Hardy to 20°-25°.
