Evergreen shrub. Slow growth. Distinctive in form and flower. Slightly weeping branches with longer than typical, narrow dark green leaves. Drooping single red flowers are more tubular than most camellias. They sometimes have white markings on the petals. Blooms in mid winter through early spring. Likes moist but well-drained acidic soil.
