Deciduous perennial. Soft-textured clumps of divided leaves composed of toothed or cut leaflets form a lower mound. Feathery plumes of purplish-pink flowers extend on thin stems above the foliage summer through fall. This species is more tolerant of dryness, than others. Deer resistant. Ample water needs in rich well-drained soil once established. Hardy to 0°F and below.
