Evergreen shrub. Dense, spreading habit works well for hedging. Can be pruned to stay narrower or to expose sculptural lower branches. Like the common name suggests, it has shaggy red bark and soft green foliage. Clusters of small white flowers bloom in spring followed by red berries. Good for coastal gardens. Drought tolerant once established but requires well-draining soil.
