Deciduous tree. Single trunk style but with foliage starting closer to the base. Fast growing. Broad oval crown. Elongated, bright green, toothed leaves turn yellow in the fall. The straight species has many faults – prone to box elder bugs, suckers badly, subject to breakage, and seeds regularly. The named varieties improve on the species. Moderate to regular water needs in well-drained soil once established.
