Evergreen palm. Multiple trunks. NOT FOR ZONE 14. Dwarf habit. Slender trunks have dense crown of heavily spined, bright green, slightly drooping fronds. Pale yellow flower clusters are noticeable and somewhat showy. Great for tropical plantings where a smaller palm is needed. Fruit is edible, but the amount of date meat produced is negligible for humans. It is, however, desirable for birds and small mammals. Drought tolerant once well established, but regular water would be preferable in areas beyond its heat and cold tolerance. Hardy to 30°F.
