Evergreen perennial. California native. Loose open habit of gray-green sparsely leafed stems. Long, narrow, vivid orange-red, tubular flowers on upright stems bloom in summer. Does well on slopes. Attracts hummingbirds and some butterflies. Tolerates poor soil. Moderate to low water needs in well-drained soil once established.
