Evergreen perennial. Hybrid of California species. Appealing deep red-purple heart shaped leaves with bold veins grow into attractive low mounds. Great for adding color to shade gardens, or statement mass plantings. Delicate white flower stalks rise above the foliage and bloom midsummer through fall. Deer resistant. Moderate water needs once established; do not let dry out between watering. Requires good drainage. Hardy to 0°F.
